Dichroic Hummingbird by Smitty is a hand-sculpted glass ornament designed to capture the shimmer and movement of a hummingbird in flight. Built over a dark black base, the body is filled with green dichroic glass that flashes with metallic color as the viewing angle and lighting change.
The sculpted form features a long tapered beak, outstretched wings, and a detailed tail, giving the piece a strong sense of motion. The wings and body catch sunlight differently, creating flashes of green, blue, purple, and silvery highlights across the surface.
Designed as a sun catcher ornament, this piece is especially striking when hung near a bright window or in direct natural light. The reflective dichroic finish becomes much more vivid in the sun, giving the hummingbird a brilliant, almost iridescent appearance.
The combination of hand-shaped detail, dark glass, and highly reflective dichroic color makes every angle of the Dichroic Hummingbird visually interesting. It works equally well as a hanging ornament, window piece, or collectible glass sculpture.
