Who are you?

I’m Daniel “Kraz” Krasnopolsky, a Long Island–based borosilicate glass artist, instructor, and lifelong creative. I’m a first-generation American with Ukrainian roots, born in Brooklyn and raised around hustle, resilience, and hard work. Glass first found me in 2019 while I was collecting functional pieces and pendants. Over the years, I continued meeting new people in the community, eventually connecting with glassblowers who let me try melting glass myself—and I instantly fell in love. In 2025, I decided to take the craft seriously, investing in my own torch and kiln. Since then, I’ve been obsessed with sharpening my skills every chance I get. These days, I create functional and wearable art, teach classes, and continue pushing myself to grow both technically and creatively.

When did you first get started in this industry?

After years of collecting and appreciating glass art, I finally got the opportunity to melt glass myself through artists I met in the community. The first time I worked behind a torch, I was hooked instantly. There’s something special about taking a solid rod and transforming it into something alive through heat and movement. What started as curiosity became a real passion, and in 2025 I fully committed.

What New Innovations Have You Been Working On?

Lately, I’ve been exploring detailed sculptural work, especially miniature hands, faces, and character-based pendants. I’m also experimenting with combining clean technical prep work—like dot stacks, implosions, and encasements—with more expressive sculptural elements. I take pride in creating 14mm 3-hole and 18mm 4-hole slides with artistic sculptural attachments, pushing beyond the more traditional horn-style designs commonly seen in the industry. I enjoy finding ways to blend precision and personality into a single piece so each one feels alive.

How Do You See the Future of This Industry Going, and Do You Have Any Advice for Those Trying to Break Into It?

I think the future belongs to artists who are willing to adapt, stay authentic, and build real community. Social media has made it easier than ever to reach collectors directly, but skill and consistency still matter most. My advice to newcomers: be patient with yourself. Respect the process. Don’t chase shortcuts or compare your chapter one to someone else’s chapter twenty. Show up, practice, ask questions, and keep learning. Progress compounds.

Any Fun Facts About Your Work Habits or Creative Process?

I’m someone who gets deeply locked into flow state once I’m behind the torch. I can spend hours obsessing over tiny details most people would never notice. Outside the studio, fitness plays a huge role in keeping me sharp mentally and physically—it helps me bring better focus into my art. Right now I’m excited about expanding my teaching, growing my brand Kraz Glass, and continuing to develop signature sculptural work that people instantly recognize as mine.
